The Clinton foundation was started by
President Bill Clinton soon after he left office. It's mission stated by the
foundation was "to strengthen the capacity of people throughout the world
to meet the challenges of global interdependence." Its goals are
global health and wellness, creating economic opportunities and growth,
fighting obesity, creating greater freedom and opportunities for women and
climate change.
The foundation works with individuals who want
to help, organizations, corporations, celebrities and governmentsThe foundation
has collected $2 billion in donations from different companies, organizations
and governments. Because Bill Clinton was a former president he has the ability
to bring together these different groups and make them work together
successfully.
Because of organizations like the Clinton
foundation and in large due to this organization about 12 million people
have received anti malarial medication. The organization has helped 750
thousand people living with aids and works on treatment and prevention
programs. They have brought care into poverty stricken areas for adults
and children. They have also assisted in the training of health care who
offered pediatric care. They presently have 70 partner countries and 22
governments receiving medical aid from the Clinton foundation.
Over the next ten years the foundation will
spend over $100 million on projects to improve access to food, clean water and
sanitation. By training and helping farmers, among many other projects.
CGI Annual Meetings have brought
together 190 sitting and former heads of state, more than 20 Nobel Prize
laureates, and hundreds of leading CEOs, heads of foundations and NGOs, major
philanthropists, and members of the media. To date, members of the CGI
community have made more than 3,400 commitments which have improved the
lives of over 430 million people in more than 180 countries.
