Mauro Libi Crestani: Positive advertising in health works ….

“Smoking kills you”

This advertising message really seems to hit home.
You would think that it would get attention and would be very effective. If you do then you are not alone, so did the country France and they ran their own anti smoking campaign.

“Smoking Means Being a Slave to Tobacco”

So was this anti-smoking campaign effective?

The short answer is … Yes, it was.

However, the negative message in these campaigns just was not as effective as a positive campaign would be.
Cornell marketing and nutritional science professor Bryan Wansink, who co-authored the report with University of Vermont nutrition and dietetics professor Lizzy Pope, extended their  research into the area of anti-smoking campaigns, the report argues that a positive message, like “If you quit smoking using this help line, you can save almost $2,000 a year,” would likely be more motivating to its audience than the negative message “Smoking kills you” that is more commonly used.

Cornel University did a study and research.  The review found that negative messages — like “Eat healthy foods or lose years off your life!” — are effective for some audiences, particularly experts like physicians or nutritionists who are already knowledgeable in the field.

However, positive messages pertaining to what someone should be eating and why it is good for them — such as “By eating healthfully, people can gain positive body image or energy” — tend to work better for a general audience that is less knowledgeable about nutrition.

If you’re a parent, it’s better to focus on the benefits of broccoli and not the harms of hamburgers.

As hard as it may seem, the threat of bad health if you do certain things…………….. is not as effective to the average person as the promise of good health if you do certain things.

Mauro Libi Crestani:So what are the keys to getting employees to be happy within your firm?

By Mauro Libi. “Everyone has an invisible sign hanging from their neck saying, ‘make me feel important.’ Never forget this message when working with people.” – Mary Kay Ash (businesswoman and founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics)

“Start with good people, lay out the rules, communicate with your employees, motivate them and reward them. If you do all those things effectively, you can’t miss.” – Lee Iacocca (automobile executive, former President and CEO of Chrysler)

Mary Kay Ash and Lee Iacocca are two very successful business people with  a very important message about one of the secrets to their success. It is called positive reinforcement.

Employees are the backbone to any company. Payroll is usually a companies largest expense. Turnover in a company can be very costly. Having to train again a new employee. Losing an employee that has built up customer loyalty and trust can be very costly to a firm. Even when employees are paid well, I have found that many will leave because they do not feel right in the company. I hear all the time, upset employees saying that “it is about more than just money.”

So what are the keys to getting employees to be happy within your firm?
What would it take to get your employees motivated to excel at their jobs?
Positive reinforcement is the practice of rewarding desirable employee behavior in order to strengthen that behavior. For example, when you praise an employee for doing a good job, you increase the likelihood of him/her doing that job very well again.

Positive reinforcement both shapes behavior and enhances an employee’s self-image. Recognizing and rewarding desirable employee behavior is the essential key to motivating employees to work more productively.

Through skillful use of positive reinforcement, you will increase your employees’ self-esteem and call forth from them greater contributions and increased dedication to the job.

What types of positive reinforcement works for employees?
If your answer is that it’s more ay, bigger bonuses. If your answer is that money is king.
You would be wrong!

In his book “1001 Ways to Recognize Employees”, Bob Nelson demonstrates that the top two drivers of employee performance are:  “I am able to make a difference at work” and “I have been recognized recently for what I do.” Money ranks a distant fifth place.

Steve jobs said that employees want to feel like their efforts make a difference. If you want your employees to be the best , you have to treat them that way.by Mauro Libi Crestani.

Mauro Libi Crestani: Customers make purchasing decisions because they have carefully considered a set of good information, right?

Wrong.

By Mauro Libi Crestani. Buying decisions are always the result of a change in the customer's emotional state. While information may help change that emotional state, it's the emotion that's important, not the information.

Our emotions trigger us to buy. Don't make the mistake thinking that people buy what they need. People buy what they want. Needs are driven by logic while wants are driven by emotions.

If you figure out the key to how to appeal to a customers wants  then you can find more eager customers.

This is all about………  ‘Positive Marketing.’

You have to create a positive customer attitude toward your product.

The $200 pair of  jeans that you are selling has to be the one that teens find appealing. They could easily let their mom pick out a $15 pair of jeans, but that is not what they want and their wants dictate their needs and therefore it is not what they will buy.

Does your marketing give off a positive appeal to your target customers and create a positive want. A desire so strong that they have to have it.  Like the sports car commercial or ad showing that beautiful young girl, that your midlife male customers want to attract with his purchase of this fancy sports car.

Don't mistake your market for "everyone who needs your product". You will waste time and money trying to convince people who need your product to want it. The best target market for you is people who want your product. They may or may not need it. As long as they want it they might buy it from you. Consider what you bought lately that you did not need but you wanted.

You might feel that you need a glass of wine, a shot of scotch or a beer at the end of a tough day - but the reality is that you want it. We all need to eat - but no one needs a Sirloin steak, deep-dish pizza or Black Forest cake. We eat those things because we want them.

Come up with a positive message appealing to the wants of your customers. To their desires and their wishes and their dreams. Make them understand that if they buy from you, it will make them happier that they did so. Keep in mind the following question ----- Why do we buy? We buy because of emotional wants. You will be more successful when you market and sell to the emotional wants of your prospects by Mauro Libi Crestani.

Mauro Libi Crestani: “Don’t worry about a thing, every little thing is gonna be alright.”

By Mauro Libi Crestani. Living with a positive attitude is not only a way to business and personal success, it will allow you to happy with your success. Bob Marley sang songs that promoted positive attitude and thinking. For him it was a way of life.
We all have times when worry, stress, and anxiety control our lives.  When times are tough it’s easy to get caught up in worry and dread, and think that it’s not going to turn out well. Marley had a message….
“Don’t worry about a thing, every little thing is gonna be alright.”

In our darkest moments, Bob urges us to hold firm, as life is a cycle, and what is now bad will return to good, and what is good will return to bad.

Essentially, he’s conveying here that there are a lot of things in life that are beyond our control, and that it makes no sense to catch a headache about such things.

It’s just a matter of getting yourself to believe it. Believe it!
“Though the road’s been rocky, it sure feels good to me.”
There are times when things are not going well, a good leader knows how to handle these times and not only finds them challenging, they know that they will win in the end. President John Kennedy said that the Chinese spell the word crisis with two strokes. One meaning danger and the other meaning opportunity. John Kennedy was saying that the Chinese saw opportunity when the road gets  rocky. Bob Marley had the same thought in his lyrics….
“When one door is closed, don’t you know that many more are open.”

His lyrics expands that thinking of the Chinese phrase and gets you to realize that it’s not just one door of opportunity that opens, but many. There are always more opportunities to be had, so you don’t need to feel too invested in any one thing. It’s a bit limiting to think that only one door opens when one closes, and much more liberating to think that in fact there are several more opportunities for each one that doesn’t work out.

Become the best at what you do. Education and skill are what can make you great.
We are going to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery because whilst others might free the body, none but ourselves can free the mind. Mind is your only ruler, sovereign. The man who is not able to develop and use his mind is bound to be the slave of the other man who uses his mind
Being a positive person allows you to do things that you never imagined that you could do because negative thought hold you back from achieving all that you are capable of. But being positive is not enough, you need free your mind with skill and education. Putting together a positive attitude and a great education (mind) then no one could hold you back from success and happiness. By Mauro Libi Crestani.

Mauro Libi Crestani: Help your child develop a positive attitude in life

By Mauro Libi Crestani. If you would like you increase your kids chances for success in life one of your best way of achieving such a goal is to help your child develop a positive attitude in life. One of the ways of instilling a positive attitude in a child is with physical activity.
It is a fact.

“Active teens have more positive attitudes than negative attitudes. This state of mind is called a positive balance of attitudes..”.

Physical activity is a great way to teach your child how to meet people. Physical activity provides opportunities to meet people and develop friendships. If they join a sport team it can teach a child how to work on a team and with others toward a common goal.

Physical activity teaches them how to have fun as they work toward a goal. They learn how to work hard to achieve their goal and to stick with something as it may take months or years to build skills and yet they also learn to enjoy their hard work if it accomplished something they like.

It teaches them to say things like…. “When I’m doing well at something, I love to keep at it.” They had high marks in “reward responsiveness” .

Physical activity reduces stress. It suggests one promising path of a child being active is to manage their anxiety and savor small victories.

Physical activity teaches the child to enjoy a challenge. To look forward to a challenge and not be afraid of it. They are developing anxiety-management skills. Doing so, the researchers write in the Journal of Research in Personality, “might enhance the likelihood of later success.”

George Mallory, a famous mountain climber, was asked why he climbed Mount Everest and he replied, “Because it was there.”.
Metaphorically speaking, we all have mountains to climb, and some of us manage to ascend to a higher plateau than others. What psychological traits help people push their way to their peak? By Mauro Libi Crestani

Mauro Libi Crestani: When does your first sale of the day actually begin?

Is it with the initial phone contact?

Is it when you first meet your potential customer and begin to tell him about your business proposals?

Smile in the mirror. Do that every morning and you’ll start to see a big difference in your life. Yoko Ono

By Mauro Libi Crestani. One of the most important characteristics of great leaders is self-confidence. Every successful person looks strong and confident and we hardly believe that once he used to be just an ordinary person with fears and worries. These people aren’t afraid to look someone in the eyes, to say what they want and to go and get it. They radiate confidence, power, success and determination and many times this helps them win a fight and get what they want without even saying anything. The relief is that everyone can achieve it. Even if you pretend that you are self-confident, you will look stronger in the eyes of others and they will treat you with the respect you deserve.
Being self-confident is a sign that you believe in yourself, have your goals set and work on them every day, aren’t afraid to make eye contact and are unstoppable once you’ve decided something. It also helps you speak and walk more confidently, look better and feel comfortable with yourself.
And one simple exercise separates you from all that.
Every morning when you wake up go the mirror and stand in front of a mirror. Say things like “I believe in myself!”, “I can!”, “Everyday I get 1% better.”, “I know what I want and aren’t afraid to get it.” Think about the things you want to achieve and say that you can get them, and there is nothing that can stop you on your way to success.
Dick Barnes , a business consultant used to say that you stand in front of the mirror and say things like  "Today is going to be the most wonderful day of my life."
A quote from Buddha, " The mind is everything, what you think you become."
The minute you wake up, you are working on your self confidence. Your customer, will be impressed by how confident your handshake is, how solid your presentation is and that look of determination that says that you are the one for the job.  You are working on a ray of positivity that will show when you meet your client.
We all have that childhood friend that is so negative all the time. He is always depressed. Just being in the same room as him will make you depressed. Can you imagine him at a sales meeting? He will make your customer feel depressed. Depressed people do not buy. Could he get your client excited about your product. Of course Not!.
As the salesperson, the image of the company relies on you. You want an image that says....
We are there for you.
We are the only one that you would want to deal with.
Ralph Marston says , "There are plenty of difficult obstacles in your path. DO not allow yourself to be one of them.".
Maria Sharapova, the great tennis player once said that,   "If you feel good then you will always perform your best without worrying about anything.".
So to answer the question - The sale of the day begins when you look into the mirror and feel the sale and know that it will happen, by Mauro Libi Crestani.

Mauro Libi Crestani: “Anything’s possible if you’ve got the nerve .” J.K Rowling

By Mauro Libi Crestani. J.K Rowling is the author of Harry Potter. Her book was turned down so many times. She was very poor. She was penniless, recently divorced, and raising a child on her own. She was a single mother living on welfare,  Twelve publishers rejected her book.  When her book was finally chosen by a publisher, the publisher told her that she should get a day job cause there was no money in children’s books.

What if she stopped at the first rejection? It took her seven years to write and publish the first Harry Potter book. She could have given up at any point during that time. She had this idea in her mind that kept her going. An idea of what life is about. It showed how positive her attitude and aspect toward life was.

“You might never fail on the scale I did, But it is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all—in which case, you fail by default.”

The measure of success can be shown by how many times someone keeps going despite hearing only no. She was not afraid of failure and she had no doubt that she would succeed. She actually saw failure as the building blocks to which she built her success.

“Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.”

Your attitude is your decision. Nelson Mandela said, “Judge me not by my success but by how many times that I fell down and got back up again.”

All in all J. K. Rolling wrote  seven books in the Harry Potter series. They have  sold more than 400 million copies. All seven books have been turned into feature films. The franchise also led to the creation of over 400 licensed products, 11 video games, and two theme parks. All told, Rowling created a $15 billion brand. Her net worth is estimated to be around $1 billion. That makes her the world's richest author.

Her attitude stayed positive despite all her early failures. She chose to have a positive attitude and she wrote about that choice that she had long ago made.

“It is our choices who make who we are, far more than our abilities.” “Ultimately, we all have to decide for ourselves what constitutes failure. But the world is quite eager to give you a set of criteria if you like.”

Imagine waiting seven years for your book to be published. All that time, you are penny less with a child to support.  When a publisher finally agrees to publish your book, he tells you that you better get a day job, because you have no chance of making money.
